The earthiness of roasted dandelion root balances well with the natural sweetness of licorice root. Vanilla adds just a bit of extra deliciousness. This is a comforting and nourishing drink that is caffeine free, while still being reminiscent of the bitter flavour of coffee. It generally doesn't require extra sweetening, but who am I to say what you should do on Mother's day!
Health wise, it is also a great tea for busy mums. Licorice is an adrenal tonic, which makes it great for improved stress tolerance and energy levels. I'm fairly sure most mum's would be welcome to this concept. Dandelion root is supportive to liver function, and is one of my preferred herbal medicines for supporting the detoxification of hormones. The bitter taste of this drink stimulates your digestive secretions and enzymes for better absorption of nutrients too.
While this tea can be brewed in your tea pot if you are in a rush, I recommend boiling it for the recommended time to extract the most flavour and therapeutic action from your tea. If you are breastfeeding or pregnant, I recommend to always check with your qualified health professional before adding large quantities of therapeutic herbs into your diet.
